I was in in the public restroom - I was barely sitting down when I heard a voice in the other stall: "Hi, how are you?"
Me: embarrassed, "Doin' fine!"
Stall: "So what are you up to?"
Me: "Uhhh, I'm like you, just sitting here."
Stall: "Can I come over?"
Me: (attitude) "No, I'm a little busy right now!!"
Stall: "Listen, I'll have to call you back. There's an idiot in the other stall who keeps answering all my questions!
I stole this little story from a friends Facebook post. I laughed outloud and re-posted it on Facebook. It made me think about how we have taken multi-tasking to an obnoxious extreme. Once upon a time, if someone was walking toward you in a public place, and if they smiled and offered a greeting, they were actually talking to you. Not now! Oh, no. They are talking to that bug in their ear. The Blue Tooth thing-a-ma-jigger. I'm not a trekky, but let's face it, People. We are looking more and more like Borgs. We've been assimilated.

Back to school!
Carson and Micah started school on Wednesday. Carson is in 6th grade and Micah is in 3rd grade. They had a great first day, and have enjoyed the days since then. I hope they continue to have this attitude all year :) I took some pics of them at home and then with some friends at school.

Home grown tomatoes
Carson picked his first tomato from the heirloom plant he purchased at the Farmer's market. The fruits are red with orange stripes running through them. They are called "Red Zebra" tomatoes. Our little tomato grower is quite proud of them :)

Gratitude
It's time to start a gratitude list...
Today I am thankful that we are so healthy, especially that Carson can run and exercise without any pain. He is doing great!
I am also happy that Carson got a place in the Charter school that he attended before. Now, if we can just get Micah in before school starts.

The times
Would someone please turn on a flashlight at the end of the tunnel? I'm having a hard time seeing the light right now.

A poem
Home
He's got a deep, abiding respect
verging on idol worship
for where things end up.
There are unopened letters
in his refrigerator, a fake
fingernail in the soapdish,
shoes everyplace.
These things, and many more
leavings, fragments, balancing
reminders of a breeze
from a slammed door--
configurations of sanctified loose ends--
have become the living net
above which he performs
the movements that make
the clock work.
