Paul is a Surgical Assistant by day, and an antiques dealer by night . Okay, not exactly night, but for a hobby and passion. He specializes in Militaria.
Back in November, we moved all of his antiques out of the Estate Sale Antique Mall in Ogden, where he had been renting a space for several years. Here are some pics of that trip. Whew!
SPOILER ALERT: Stand by for tomorrow, when we will be moving everything into Treasures Antique Mall in Springville. There will be new pics.

My eldest son
Today my oldest son turned 21 years old. It's hard to believe it has been that many years since he was born and made me a mother. I have vivid memories of his birth. My mother was there. She saw him born and it was such a moment. She would not be with me (on this earth) for either of my other children's births. I remember the weight of him as the nurse laid him carefully on my abdomen and his father was given instructions on cutting the chord. He was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. In that moment, my heart changed. Nothing in life would ever be the same. I would sacrifice anything for this little person, my own son.
Dakota has an intelligent and thoughtful spirit. He is sensitive to lovely writing and classical music. He is also very humorous, and makes me laugh. Without his support through my divorce and the years following, I wonder what I would have done. I want him to soar in life, and to not be afraid to be anything he dreams of. I love you, Dakota. Beyond words.

True Love for Melody
My friend Melody has posted a story on Facebook about being in love. This man is someone she knew as a teenager, and he came looking for her 35 years later. She is so happy, and so am I.
Two years ago, Melody and I sat at La Dolce Vida, ate pasta, and talked about our lives. We also talked at her house and various other places. We were both divorced, single moms. Women who love poetry, art, and the beautiful things in life. Though she had been single longer than me, we shared much in common. We had both suffered in marriage, but love our children greatly. We both wanted to find more in a relationship. . . much more!
I met my love last year. This year, Melody seems to have met hers. I admit that there are a few tears while typing this. It feels so close to my heart. God does know us. It's not just one of those phrases you tell people when they are feeling down. He really does. Sometimes, after we have learned, and suffered, and feel like we will never be whole again, he brings us the most wonderful blessings.

Smiles in the heart
I find pleasure in little things. The smell of a brand new book, the moods of the sky, the feel of new fuzzy socks on my feet, the taste of cookie dough, the petals of a rose. Life is lived, to me, in those moments. I told my husband, before we were married, "I'm really good at the everyday things." I meant that I put a large effort into having a good attitude, loving those in my life, and just simply having fun and being happy (for some reason) each day. We shouldn't rush by beautiful things or moments. This is where we live.

Primary Children's Visit
Today was Carson's annual visit to have his Echo and exam with Dr. Williams. The results were great. He is healthy and strong.
We went to the brand new Outpatient building this time. It is across from the hospital on the West. We had some fun on the the connecting sky bridge. From the bridge, we were able to see the snow start to fall and quickly turn into a blizzard.
We braved the storm to go to several places and eat lunch at "The Old Dutch Store."
I am so thankful for Carson's good health!

Special day
Today is Sunday, and a unique and memorable one for Carson and Micah. Paul ordained Carson as a Teacher, and then ordained Micah as a Deacon.
Carson said, "Mom, when I was sitting at the front of the room and Paul was getting ready to ordain me, it was a really great moment for me." Micah called this "one of the best days ever."
After church we went out to dinner to celebrate, and then on a spontaneous ride out to the lake.
Thankful today, as always.
