I am so thankful that I have wonderful and strong parents. Though they no longer exist where I can see them, I know that they are up there in Heaven doing all they can for me. I feel their warmth and their desire for my happiness. Our years of beautiful memories make me smile, and their strength still sustains me in so many ways.
I am thankful for my friends, who have become my family. I have several close friends who are just like sisters to me. I also have several guy friends who I have known since childhood. I know in my heart that these wonderful friends will not leave me, but stay for the rest of my life. I have been given more family and I am so grateful for them.

Micah's 11th Birthday
Today my little smiley boy turned 11 years old. It seems like yesterday that he was a baby, and everyone was telling me how much he looks like me. His smile can light up a room, and his spirit is just as big and sweet. I am thankful everyday of my life for my Micah. Love you so much!
This year, Micah chose to do a family party. He had a "Hobbit" cake and received family presents. Cousin Andy stopped by with more gifts. It was a fun day!

Halloween backtrack
I forgot to post a blog about Halloween. It was quite low-key at our house this year. We went to a Ward carnival earlier in the week. Carson was Doc Holliday and Micah was also a gunslinger. On the actual holiday, I worked all day and then rushed home to hand out candy. Dakota stayed home to give out candy. Carson went trick or treating with some friends. Micah decided that he has lost his enthusiasm for trick or treating. Still, we did carve pumpkins and have some fun. . .

# 3
Today I am thankful for a quiet day. There was a bit on snow on the ground this morning. My boys and I went out and got a hot chocolate. I've been able to spend all day at home. I made a great big dinner for us and we discussed Micah's birthday tomorrow. Listening to David Bowie and feeling a bit of melancholy as the day turns into night.

I'm thankful all year, but well . . . it's November
This is a great month for me to list my thankful things. On the 1st day of November (since I am a day behind) I am thankful for God. He is great, and has omnipotent power. Yet, he listens to me and he knows my heart. Thank you, Father, for listening. And for many many blessings and miracles.
On the 2nd day, I am thankful for my three sons. They each have loving creative spirits, and smiles that often bring their mother to tears. I no longer enjoy looking back at my life before I knew them. They have made me a much better person, and I have experienced a love for them that I could never have imagined. Thank you, my children.

Four years of blogging
Four years ago, at just this time of year, I started this blog. My first photos were of my children getting ready for Halloween. I had no idea then what changes would come to our family. I was, as they say, blissfully ignorant. Looking back today over four years of our lives, we have had many joys and a few large sadnesses. I would not trade my life, or change these beautiful everyday moments for anything. Here's a little look back . . . :)
I'm so happy I started this blog. It's a great place to record our moments. I'm a bit weepy over these younger days already.

Learning to be single
Life moves on. On Oct. 2, it was officially.a year since my divorce has been final. It's strange how good it feels to hit that mark. The long and sad process of the first year of holidays and birthdays on our own has finally come to a close. We are making the adjustment. Financially we still struggle, but emotionally things are much better. In my heart, I know I have a long way to go and more heartbreaks ahead, but I am looking in a forward direction more often. There is no sense to keep looking behind me. It can't be changed now. I've had to accept that.
Work is still going well. I'm getting more hours, but it's not enough. I continue to train and improve in my current position, while looking for full time work. Something will come up.
I am enjoying conference weekend. We were even invited to a neighbor's house for the morning session today. They were kind to have us come over and snack and watch conference. It was a fun change. We often get in our little world and don't spend enough time with family and friends.
I went on a date last night with a really nice guy. I hadn't actually thought he would be my type, but agreed to go out with him. He works as an armed security officer at a rehab facility. He's very fit, focused, and decisive about what he wants. However, I have learned that there is another side to him. We had a fun evening, and talked and laughed for several hours. I've been on several dates since becoming single, but I have to say that I enjoyed this one the most. It was nice to be treated so well. Do you know what? I think I am beginning to like being single.
