An inherited thread of creativity cannot be stopped
My children take after me. I'm not always certain that it's a good thing, but be that as it may . . . they do. I've been making things and writing words, literally since before I can remember. I love to create and experiment and express myself in odd ways. And so . . . this post will be a gathering of photos proving my point about my boys having my genes. I hope it will be entertaining.

More on the journey
So . . . I got caught up in "survival mode" again, which seems to have become more the norm than I ever wanted it to be. Though I didn't finish my list of thankful things on this blog, please know that I have many. I make it a point to review them each day, and I am truly a blessed woman.
In my current mode of not looking too far into the future, lest I get overwhelmed, I have put some things aside. Unfortunately one of the things I've been struggling with is my writing. There are plenty of things to write about but no time, and not enough sincerity on the page. It comes out looking reading like stories, and that's not what it should feel like. Poetry is "liquor." It is writing that is distilled in it's purest and most potent form. I'm a Tolkien fan. Bet you didn't know that :) I was reading an article about Richard Armitage tonight online, and I decidedly owe him a debt. He was speaking about acting and basically said that the more you are aware of what you are doing, the more it doesn't work. For him, it's when he actually forgets that he is playing a part, and the scene becomes only the character, that magic happens. Hallelujah! He's right. I've been pushing my writing. I'm too aware of my struggles and my own limits. I need to relax and let it go. Let the writing become what it needs to become. I can do this. Thank you, Richard.

More thankfuls
I am so thankful that I have wonderful and strong parents. Though they no longer exist where I can see them, I know that they are up there in Heaven doing all they can for me. I feel their warmth and their desire for my happiness. Our years of beautiful memories make me smile, and their strength still sustains me in so many ways.
I am thankful for my friends, who have become my family. I have several close friends who are just like sisters to me. I also have several guy friends who I have known since childhood. I know in my heart that these wonderful friends will not leave me, but stay for the rest of my life. I have been given more family and I am so grateful for them.

Micah's 11th Birthday
Today my little smiley boy turned 11 years old. It seems like yesterday that he was a baby, and everyone was telling me how much he looks like me. His smile can light up a room, and his spirit is just as big and sweet. I am thankful everyday of my life for my Micah. Love you so much!
This year, Micah chose to do a family party. He had a "Hobbit" cake and received family presents. Cousin Andy stopped by with more gifts. It was a fun day!

Halloween backtrack
I forgot to post a blog about Halloween. It was quite low-key at our house this year. We went to a Ward carnival earlier in the week. Carson was Doc Holliday and Micah was also a gunslinger. On the actual holiday, I worked all day and then rushed home to hand out candy. Dakota stayed home to give out candy. Carson went trick or treating with some friends. Micah decided that he has lost his enthusiasm for trick or treating. Still, we did carve pumpkins and have some fun. . .

# 3
Today I am thankful for a quiet day. There was a bit on snow on the ground this morning. My boys and I went out and got a hot chocolate. I've been able to spend all day at home. I made a great big dinner for us and we discussed Micah's birthday tomorrow. Listening to David Bowie and feeling a bit of melancholy as the day turns into night.

I'm thankful all year, but well . . . it's November
This is a great month for me to list my thankful things. On the 1st day of November (since I am a day behind) I am thankful for God. He is great, and has omnipotent power. Yet, he listens to me and he knows my heart. Thank you, Father, for listening. And for many many blessings and miracles.
On the 2nd day, I am thankful for my three sons. They each have loving creative spirits, and smiles that often bring their mother to tears. I no longer enjoy looking back at my life before I knew them. They have made me a much better person, and I have experienced a love for them that I could never have imagined. Thank you, my children.
